Facing challenges with OEM-supplied missile checkout system, obsolete technologies, hard to maintain, bulky and difficult to deploy, inefficient to operate – Pinaka seized an opportunity for innovation. The Digitised AKIPS, with its compact design, overcame bulkiness, enabling easy transport and deployment in diverse environments. Simultaneous testing of two missiles enhanced throughput, addressing time limitations. Legacy programs were replaced with contemporary software technologies, better IPC and modern GUI for ease of operations, streamlining configuration and execution processes. The impact of Digitised AKIPS on missile check-out is profound. It comprehensively evaluates subsystems simultaneously, optimizing assessments, saving valuable time during wartime operations, and importantly, improving trustworthiness of the launch. The modernized interface ensures easy adaptation to evolving requirements, placing Digitised AKIPS at the forefront of missile testing technology. Pinaka's innovation sets a new standard for efficiency and adaptability in defense technology, ensuring reliability and performance for future defense forces.
As a Fly-By-Wire aircraft, the Tejas LCA relies heavily on several systems that are computer-controlled in real-time for optimal performance. The Flight Control System of the Tejas uses various inputs such as airspeed, angle of attack, side slip, etc., from the environment, and also the pilot’s inputs for pitch, roll, yaw and thrust, to then control the movement of the surface actuators using the control laws implemented in the Digital Flight Control Computer (DFCC). The DFCC and the Air Data Computer (ADC) are thus very critical to the performance of the Tejas LCA to achieve the pilot’s intended flight path.
The NETRA Airborne Early Warning and Control System is crucial for the IAF's surveillance and tracking efforts across air, sea, and land targets, including ballistic missiles. Commissioned by the Centre for Airborne Systems (CABS), Pinaka developed a Mission System Integration Rig (MSyIR) to validate performance characteristics of avionic subsystems within NETRA AEW&CS. MSyIR replicates the aircraft environment, conducting performance tests for RF signal transmission and reception before aircraft installation. Pinaka, responsible for designing and integrating MSyIR with the Embraer EJ-145 aircraft platform, met stringent timelines dictated by DRDO's commitments to the Indian Air Force. Pinaka's technical team decomposed the system into individual components, ensuring clear interfaces and functionality. Simultaneously, the program management team initiated planning, scheduling, component sourcing, and risk management, delivering a high-quality product on time. Through Pinaka's design and development capabilities, CABS/DRDO delivered a fully indigenous product efficiently.
